The present invention provides a container liner (10) comprising at least on e sheet of flexible sheet material (52) assembled to form a semi-enclosed container having an opening defined by a periphery (28). The sheet material (52) has a preferential elongation (80) axis which permits the liner (10) to expand in response to forces exerted by contents within the liner (10) to provide an increase in volume of the liner (10) and conform the liner (10) t o the interior volume of a container (31).
