mechanical engineering; diesel engines. SUBSTANCE: nozzle of internal combustion engine has cylindrical shutoff needle coaxially installed in housing for movement. Precision conical surface of nozzle needle end engages with mating surface of nozzle orifice. Segment flat is made on conical surface of needle between its precision part and zone where cone changes into cylinder. Plane of segment of flat is mainly perpendicular to geometrical axis of needle. Preferable height of segment is 0.15-0.2 mm. EFFECT: reduced fuel consumption owing to improved atomizing of fuel in combustion chamber by nozzle. 3 dwg
