<p>PURPOSE:To provide molding powder which lessens the amt. of the gas to be generated in a melting process, has an excellent heat insulating property and is capable of forming a stable molten mold layer on the surface of the molten steel in a casting mold and to continuously cast a slab having excellent quality by this powder. CONSTITUTION:This molding powder for continuous casting is formed by compounding a raw material for production of calcium silicate contg. CaO/SiO2 in a range of 0.6 to 1.8 and contg. 2 to 10wt.% fluorine and Al2O3 and a molding powder main raw material obtd. by melting the carbonate of alkaline metals and alkaline earth metals at 1200 to 1700 deg.C and removing carbon dioxide by cracking, then subjecting the melt to rapid cooling and water-crashed granulating at a ratio 70 to 95wt.%. The ignition loss of the carbonic acid, etc., to be incorporated from the raw materials exclusive of the carbon-component is <=7wt.%.</p> |
