The combination of modulators in a single circuit reduces the complexity of the telephone circuits. In order to produce a signal which is modulated both in phase and in amplitude with a mobile telephone (1) two signals are produced with phase modulation and one signal is produced with amplitude modulation. The two phase modulated signals are sent into a phase modulator (22) working in quadrature, producing an output which is phase modulated with two components in quadrature. This signal is sent to the input of an amplifier whose supply voltage is linked to the amplitude modulated signal. The various elements of this circuit may be integrated together.
