Method of testing the connection between a communication module (10) connected to a meter (12) and a data collection terminal (14), in which one: - .establishes communication between the module (10) and the terminal (14) in given operational conditions; - in sensibly the same operational conditions, act in a controlled manner on at least one of the communication parameters of the terminal (14) and detect if the connection between the module (10) and the terminal is still established; - acting one of the communication parameters of the terminal (14) until the connection is not established; - attenuate a communication value of the terminal (14) a fixed number of decibels; - attenuate the emission power of the terminal (14); - attenuate the sensitivity of the terminal (14) receiver; - attenuate simultaneously the transmission power of the terminal (14) and its receiver sensitivity. An Independent Claim is included for a terminal designed to put into practice the method.
