The device uses a microprocessor and digitizer for converting speech signals to digital format for temporary storage. The device includes a recording system with a microphone (9) connected to a microprocessor which is in turn connected to a digital memory. This system serves to convert the signal into digital format and record the digital information holding a voice message. A flashing LED or a sound indication may indicate the presence of a recorded message within the device, and this may be heard by pressing a replay button (13). The device is small sized - of the order of 5cm by 5 - 10 cm, and may be made with a single injection mould ed body and removable base plate.
