The laser diode (1) has a light emitting surface and preferably connecting contacts opposing the light emitting surface with a holder that integrates the laser diode in a mechanically stable and temperature stabilized manner. A holding element (2) fully encloses the laser diode to the side of the light emitting surface and is in direct contact with the laser diode and with at least one cooling element (3). The holding element is a standard-type or standardized housing (4).
