<p>An applicator (1) is disclosed for the topical application of an insecticidal formulation to the skin of a sheep, goat or similar wooled or long haired animal as a preventative against blowfly strike. The applicator (1) comprises a body plate (2); a handle (12) is positioned on the upper surface of the plate (2); a plurality of teeth (8) depend from the lower surface of the plate (2); each of the teeth (8) has a shank (8a) and a foot (8b); each shank (8a) contains a bore (9) extending substantially longitudinally therein; a flow passage (16) is within the handle (12) which is in fluid communication with each bore (9) for dispensing formulation therethrough; each tooth (8) parts the wool or hair as the applicator (1) is drawn towards the rear of said animal while dispensing the formulation from or near the trailing edge of the tooth (8). One or more spacer plates (10) can be affixed to the applicator (1) thus enabling its use on animals of varying length wool or hair.</p> |
