New 5-fluoro-6-phenoxypyrimidine derivatives useful as fungicides and bactericides in agriculture and industry, and as herbicides and pesticides

5-Fluoro-6-phenoxypyrimidine derivatives (I) are new. 5-Fluoro-6-phenoxypyrimidine derivatives of formula (I) are new. [Image] Z : substituted monocyclic aryl, optionally substituted polycyclic aryl or unsubstituted heterocyclyl; L1>-L4>H, halo, CN, NO2, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl or alkylsulfonyl. An independent claim is also included for the preparation of (I). - ACTIVITY : Fungicide; antibacterial; herbicide; pesticide; insecticide; anthelmintic. 2-[2-(5-Fluoro-6-(2-methylthiophenoxy)pyrimidin-4-yloxy )phenyl]-2-methoxyimino-N-methylacetamide (Ia) (1 pt. wt.) was mixed with N,N-dimethylacetamide solvent (25 pts. wt.) and alkylarylpolyglycol ether emulsifier (0.6 pts. wt.); the mixture was diluted with water to give the desired concentration and sprayed onto young barley plants. Once the mixture had dried, the plants were dusted with spores of Erysiphe graminis. After seven days at 20 [deg]C and 80 % relative humidity, it was found that a 250 g/ha dose of (Ia) had been over 95 % effective at preventing growth of the spores. - MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
