The charging air cooler has an air entry pipe (1) and an air exit pipe (2) coupled via a number of parallel flat rectangular pipe sections (10) which are stacked together to provide a rectangular block, enclosed by a housing mantle (7,9), fitted with a sealed air entry and air exit connection (3) at its opposite ends and provided with entry and exit flow connections (8) for a cooling medium, e.g. water, passed in the opposite direction to the air flow.
