The cleaning method has the double pivot table rotated through 180 degrees relative to its horizontal axis (3) for changing over the pivot tables (4a,4b) between the loading side (6) and the machining side (5), the pivot table on the loading side supplied automatically with a rinsing fluid within the loading space while it is rotated about its pivot axis (9) through at least 360 degrees. An Independent claim for a machine tool incorporating a cleaning process is also included.
