A thermal transfer recording device capable of improving or substantially eliminating at least one of those problems that the recording speed of images is low, stability is low, and cost is high in the recording of lustrous, high quality images, comprising a recording intermediate body riding across a plurality of drums disposed apart from each other so as to form a closed loop, a dyeing layer transfer part having a dyeing layer transfer head opposed to the part of the recording intermediate body on the outer periphery of one of the plurality of drums, an image recording part having at least one image recording head opposed to the part of the recording intermediate body on the outer periphery of one of the drums, and an image transfer part having an image transfer head opposed to the recording intermediate body inside the closed loop.
