A METHOD OF COATING A SUBSTRATE

A method of coating a substrate (14) and a coating apparatus (10) for carrying out the method are disclosed which include use of an engraved roller (12) having a predetermined pattern of cells engraved therein, the depth of each of the cells being in the range 150 mu m to 300 mu m. The engraved roller (12) takes up material from a reservoir (11) transfers it to an application roller (13) which applies the coating material to a substrate (14).
