PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE TAPE FOR PROVISIONALLY FIXING PART

A pressure-sensitive adhesive tape for provisionally fixing parts which comprises a base film and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed on one or both sides of the film. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is made of an adhesive composition comprising a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a polymer having crystallizable side chains. The polymer is obtained from a monomer mixture comprising about 40 to 70 wt.% alkyl acrylate and/or alkyl methacrylate in which each alkyl has 1 to 6 carbon atoms, about 2 to 10 wt.% carboxylated ethylenic monomer, and about 20 to 50 wt.% alkyl acrylate and/or alkyl methacrylate in which each alkyl has 16 or more carbon atoms, and has a weight-average molecular weight of about 3,000 to 25,000. The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape has satisfactory tackiness to parts at low temperatures. Consequently, at low temperatures, a part can be provisionally fixed to the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape and be proceeded (e.g., cut) or transferred in this state. The part can be easily separated from the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape by heating the tape to a given temperature or above.
