An AWG (array waveguide diffraction grating/10A) has l groups of m input ports (11A1 to 11An+l-1) for multiplexing optical signals belonging to the groups. For example, optical signals of wavelengths lambda 1 to lambda m are inputted to the input ports (11A1 to 11Am) and outputted from an output port (12A1) as multiplexed light. In such a way multiplexed lights outputted from the groups are inputted to a multiplexing coupler (18A) and outputted to a transmission line (19A) as multiplexed lights of optical signals with wavelengths lambda 1 to lambda n.
