GRANULAR BASE AND PARTICULATE DETERGENT

A detergent having a high bulk density is produced. Provided are: a granular base for surfactant supporting which has a surfactant content of 0 to 10 wt.% and is obtained, for example, by spray-drying a slurry comprising (A) a water-soluble polymer, (B) a film formation inhibitor, and (C) a water-soluble salt other than the inhibitor; a process for producing the granular base; a particulate detergent which comprises 100 parts by weight of the granular base and 1 to 100 parts by weight of a surfactant supported thereon and has an average particle diameter of 150 to 750 mu m and a bulk density of 500 g/L or higher; and a detergent composition comprising the particulate detergent. The granular base and the particulate detergent have excellent solubility and a sufficient bulk density and further have extremely high oil absorption. Hence, they are effective in obtaining a detergent composition excellent in detergency and reduced in caking and component oozing.
