The floorboard has a rectangular configuration with grooves (4,5) in one long side (2) and one face side (3). On the other long (6) and face (7) sides are projecting tongues (8,9). In the grooves and on the tongues locking devices (10) are formed, providing a secure engagement between adjacent floorboards when laid. On the upper long sides of the tongues, at least in areas, locking convolutions (11,11a) are provided, which have a front locating incline and a rear buttress incline and in the upper inner surfaces of the grooves locking channels are formed, working in conjunction with the locking convolutions. On the mouth side of the grooves on their upper longitudinal edges locating bevels for the locating inclines are provided.
