The invention relates to a voice-controlled telephone switching unit used to switch transmission links between terminals (1) which are associated with said switching unit or between one such terminal and an outside line, comprising a link processor and a voice input module for the conversion of voice signals which are inputted by the terminal into commands which can be processed by the link processor in order to establish a transmission link. The voice-controlled telephone switching unit is able to execute setting commands which are received from a terminal (1) and define the steps which are to be taken by the switching unit if the link processor (9) of the switching unit cannot establish a transmission link to another terminal or an outside line (10) requested by the first terminal (1).
