<p>A process for the production of 2-pyridylpyridine derivatives usable as intermediates of drugs or agricultural chemicals, which neither involves the use of an expensive metal catalyst nor causes environmental pollution and can be carried out even on an industrial scale. This process comprises the step (A) of preparing an amidrazone compound from a cyanated heterocyclic compound in an aqueous solvent, the step (B) of preparing a 1,2,4-triazine compound from the amidrazone compound in an aqueous solvent, and the step (C) of preparing a 2-pyridylpyridine derivative from the triazine compound.</p> |
