Process and circuit arrangement for echo compensation in a telecommuncations system with non-linear transmission links

The method involves mounting a device for suppressing echoes in a transcoder unit (36) and emulating the non-linear component of the echo path with functional units already present in the telecommunications system. The non-linear component of the echo path can be emulated by sing the speech decoder (33) in the transcoder unit. An Independent claim is also included for a circuit for implementing the method.
