A soft tissue product and method for making a soft tissue product which exhibits resistance to linting while maintaining physical strength integrity . The process includes debonding and mechanically treating papermaking fibers, forming a tissue web and drying the tissue web. The process allows for the u se of high levels of debonding agents and hardwood fibers.
