The unit consists of an elongate parallelepiped-shaped housing (9) having comfort devices, indicators, switches, safety parts and connections to supply lines for air, power and communication devices. The housing is enclosed by a cover (19) arranged around the outer edge of the housing. Part of the outer edge region receives illumination devices, while devices such as a reading light (10), air nozzle (11), switches (13), and safety devices such as an oxygen mask (14), oxygen generator (15), emergency light (16) and oxygen box (17) are arranged in the housing.
