A handle 11 for a vessel 9, preferably a drinking vessel such as a coffee mug or beer glass, comprises an elongate member 12 for a grip portion, and at least one extension 13, 14 therefrom for attachment of the handle to the vessel. The elongate member has running along its length and facing away from the extension(s) on one side a convex surface 12 and on the other a concave surface 16, so that when more than one handle is gripped in one hand the convex surface of one handle cooperates with the concave surface of another at contact area A so that the vessels can be held securely. Preferably the convex surface and concave surface have matching profiles. The elongate member is preferably straight, and may include two small protuberances (Figure 6, 32 and 33) spaced apart on the concave surface to improve stability when the profiles of the convex and concave surfaces are not identical. The vessel may also be a jug, salt and pepper pots or a plastic cup. The handle and vessel may be made from ceramic, glass, metal, wood or plastic, and the handle and vessel may be made separately and subsequently joined together. |
