Silica gel should have specific surface 80 to 300 sq.m/g, loose density 0.3-0.7 g/cu.cm, dispersity according to index of sieve no. 200 residue not more than 0.1 to 0.5%, pH value of 5% aqueous suspension at least 6-7, and moisture capacity 0.9-2.6 cu.cm/g. In addition, silica gel can have water content no higher than 5-7%, weight portion of silica at least 97-99% and that of Fe no more than 0.15%.
