The phone includes a short range link device allowing encryption keys to be transmitted over a short distance, and includes a storage device for the keys. Independent claims are also included for (a) a fixed telephone with a receiving part for an encryption smart card which can receive encryption keys stored in the above mobile or cordless phones, (b) a set-up procedure for encryption phones using the above mobile or cordless phones, and (c) a secure communication system using two or more of the mobile or cordless phones for updating an encryption smart card with encryption keys which can then be used for encryption in the same or other phones. |
