PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make mechanism to switch high resolution and low resolution compact by constituting an image sensor and a lens freely rotatably as one block and switching the resolution by changing an optical path with the block rotated. SOLUTION: This resolution switching mechanism is provided with the optical block 10 having the image sensor 1 and the lens 2, and switches the resolution by rotating the optical block 10 with a base of a rotation pivot part 6, as the center. Thus, an angle change and transfer, etc., of a mirror 11 is unnecessitated in the case of changing the optical path in switching of the resolution, and a driving system of the switching of the resolution is made to be compact. The resolution switching mechanism is further provided with a holding part 5 to hold distance between the image sensor 1 and the lens 2 for the case of low resolution so that it becomes the specified distance, and pressurizing element 4 to pressurize the image sensor 1 to the side of the lens 2 and a positioning part 12 to set the distance between the image sensor 1 and the lens 2 for the case of switching to high resolution.
