PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording medium capable of providing the same sound quality as a conventional CD when the medium is reproduced with a conventional CD(Compact Disk) reproducing device, and providing high sound quality when it is reproduced with a new reproducing device. SOLUTION: An audio input signal is sampled by an A/D converter 14 at a sampling frequency of 88.2 kHz, twice as fast as 44.1 kHz for CD, and quantized at 16 bits. And, the signal is outputted as two-channel audio data. And, the data are divided into odd number samples and even number samples by an odd/even number divider 15 to obtain 44.1 kHz sampling data each, and are recorded on the 1st recording layer (1st layer) and the 2nd recording layer (2nd layer) of a two-layer optical disk 1 via error correcting and coding circuit 16O, 16E, modulation circuits 17O, 17E, and digitizing circuits 18O, 18E.
