PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FRP propeller shaft consisting of a cylindrical shaft body made of FRP and a joint provided by joining with both ends thereof, having torsional strength, torsional bucking strength, and residual torsion strength after impact which are equivalent to or higher than those strengths of a conventional FRP propeller shaft, and being further lighter in weight and lower cost than the conventional one. SOLUTION: This propeller shaft has a cylindrical shaft main body made of fiber reinforced plastic and a joint 3 provided by joining with at least an end part on one side thereof. Compression strength in the direction of fiber of the fiber reinforcing plastic of the main body is 1700 MPa or more, and a degree of elongation in the orthogonal direction of fiber is 1.2% or more.
