PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sway stopping device for a hoisting accessory which does not drop the efficiency of a cargo handling work. SOLUTION: This device is provided with first/second arms 19, 20 pivoted to a head block 6 adjacent to a trolly lateral running direction so that its upper end can swing to the trolly lateral running direction and cylinders 21, 22 for turning both arms 19, 20. A rope 25 for elevating suspended from the trolly is engagingly locked with the upper end of respective arms 19, 20 and when ropes 25, 25 for elevating are wound or delivered, in response to the suspension length of the rope, both arms 19, 20 are turned by the cylinders 21, 22 so that the intersection point of the axes of the rope 25 for elevating is positioned to the gravity center W of a head block 6 and spreader or such state that the load is added thereto and the balance of the geometric force of the rope 25 for elevating is maintained.
