PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device which can unify environments in which a picture requiring double buffering such as three dimensional graphics and animation are simultaneously displayed. SOLUTION: A frame buffer 1-3 having a double buffer constitution is constituted of two independent regions. A plotting attribute plane stores for each region, unit the information indicating into which frame buffers data are plotted based on indication of a processing device 1-1. And, picture data outputted from the processing device 1-1 is plotted on a frame buffer specified by this plotting attribute plane through a plotting switching device 2-2. A display attribute plane 2-3 stores, for each regions unit, the attribute indicating from which frame buffers the picture data are read based on indication of a processing device 1-1. And, a display switching device 2-4 outputs picture data from a frame buffer specified by this display attribute plane 2-3 to a display 1-4.
