PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control unit that provides ease of operation and contributes to secure safety especially in the case of applying the remote control unit to a car navigation system. SOLUTION: The remote control unit 7 is provided with a microphone 8. A voice recognition LSI 9 is connected to the microphone 8, which transduces a voice uttered by a driver into an electric signal and the voice recognition LSI 9 recognizes and processes this electric signal as a specific word. An output signal from the voice recognition LSI 9 (electric signal after recognition processing) is processed by a main microcomputer 7c via an I/O port and a transmission section 7d emits it to a reception section of an image display device as an infrared ray signal 7e.
