PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the mean access time of all auxiliary storage devices of a computer system by determining a buffer cache division ratio according to the data transfer speeds of multiple auxiliary storage devices. SOLUTION: A buffer cache redivision part 112 supplies data transfer speed values of auxiliary storage devices 51 to 52 to a division ratio calculation part 1122. Then the calculation part 1122 calculates the division ratios of areas according to the given data transfer speed values. In this case, the division ratios r1 and r2 of the buffer cache 31 are r1=v2/(v1+v2) and r2=v1/(v1+v2), where v1 and v2 are the data transfer speeds of the auxiliary storage devices 51 and 52.
