PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize damage to a head and disk during the loading by attaching a cartridge/HGA assembly to a head loading mechanism in the manner that the major axis of a suspension member is extended to the X axis parallel to the disk surface and partially bent to the disk surface. SOLUTION: A plate component 80B is oriented so that a cartridge 82 and a head gimbal assembly 84 are offset to one side and the upper part of the major part in a plate component 80A. When the cartridge is fixed on the plate component 80B, the narrow elastic suspension member 84A of the fixed head gimbal assembly 84 is primarily extended in the X axis direction and is also angled downward. These head control mechanisms are meshed with the suspension member 84A of the head gimbal assembly 84 for the purpose of positioning a slider 110 in the Z axis direction relative to a magnetic disk.
