PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a molded article which has hydrophilicity or water absorbency easily imparted thereto, is light-colored, exhibits peculiar hand or external appearance, and is free of cracks or deformation damage by eluting the water- soluble substance from a molded article made of a composition containing a cellulosic material, a water-insoluble thermoplastic resin, and a water-soluble substance with an aqueous solvent. SOLUTION: A resin composition containing 5-100 pts.wt. water-soluble substance, based on 15-60 pts.wt. cellulosic material and 85-40 pts.wt. water-insoluble thermoplastic resin, is molded. From the resultant molded article, the water-soluble substance is eluted with an aqueous solvent so that the cellulosic material is exposed to the sulface of the article or the surface is napped. Wood flour, waste paper, pulp, etc., are listed as the cellulosic material. Olefin resins, polyester resins, etc., are listed as the water-insoluble thermoplastic resin. Water-soluble resins and solid water-soluble inorganic compounds can be used as the water-soluble substance. Being simple and easy, the immersion of the molded article in water at 0-100 deg.C is favorable as the elution with an aqueous solvent.
