PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preforming device for a moving handrail for a passenger conveyer in which preforming work of the end of the longitudinal direction of a canvas can the be carried out quickly and surely when the moving handrail is connected in an endless state. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a set of metal dies 7-9 inside which a nearly C letter type space 6 is formed along the longitudinal direction and on which a heat part 15 and thermal medium passage 16 are provided, and a hydraulic pressurization device 10 for giving an uniform holding pressure to the longitudinal direction of this one set of metal dies 7-9. Thereby, the end of the longitudinal direction of a canvas is inserted in the space 6 of the inside of the metal dies 7-9 and the thermal medium is poured in the thermal medium passage 14 and the metal dies 7-9 are heated quickly upto a prescribed temperature and the heated state of the canvas 1 is kept by the heating of an electric heat body 15 also the uniform holding pressure is given to the longitudinal direction of the metal dies 7-9 by the hydraulic pressurization device 10 and the end of the canvas is pressurized and molded to a nearly C letter shape. Thereafter, after pouring the cooled thermal medium to the thermal medium passage 14 and quickly cooling the metal dies 7-9 upto the prescribed temperature, the pressurization state is released and the moving handrail is taken out from the metal dies 7-9.
