PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize a dead space effectively, make an outboard engine having a fuel supply unit on a side face of the engine compact and improve performance, by mounting a deceleration control unit on an upper face of the engine and approximately right above the fuel supply unit. SOLUTION: A vertical type engine 3 with a crankshaft disposed approximately vertically in an outboard engine 1 is provided with a deceleration control unit 27 for preventing engine stall due to rich air-fuel mixture in a carburetor 22 caused by abrupt closure of a throttle valve from an open state. The deceleration control unit 27 has a configuration such that a damper pin 27b protruding outward from a main body 27a is connected to a damper mechanism provided in the main body 27a. The deceleration control unit 27 is disposed on a right upper face of a cylinder block 15 and approximately right above the carburetor 22, and fixed to the cylinder block 15 by means of a stay 28 or the like. Therefore, engine space is efficiently utilized and the outboard engine can be made compact. |
