PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately confirm the sheet remaining amount in a sheet remaining amount detecting device for detecting the remaining amount of sheets to be fed to an image forming device. SOLUTION: The position of a tray 14 is detected by position sensors Sa to Sd and a paper sensor arranged in the moving direction of the tray 14 for loading sheets and to be vertically moved according to the sheet loading amount. The feeding number of sheets between respective arranged sensors is counted to calculate the feeding number ratio of respective sections. The sheet remaining amount is calculated on the basis of the sheet feeding number ratio calculated in sheet feeding and the sheet feeding number counted in the section of detecting means in which the sheet feeding ratio is known by the calculation.
