PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which can be used as a substitute for an easy-handling hand mirror without any problems about its design by using the information display panel attached to a portable appliance and changing the surface of the information display panel into a mirror when the display is not used. SOLUTION: The display element as such device is formed by integrating and laminating, from the bottom layer, a mirror part 21, diffusion LCD 22 and display LCD 23 as the uppermost layer. In the normal display mode, information is displayed in the display LCD 23 and the diffusion type LCD 22 is kept in a diffusion state (white state). In a mirror mode, the display LCD 23 and diffusion LCD 22 are kept in a transmission state to reflect light on the mirror part 21 to allow the display to function as a mirror. The mirror mode and information-off display mode which does not display information can be selected when the power for the appliances mounted on the display is turned off. For the information-off display mode, the diffusion LCD 22 is kept in a diffusion state to show a white cloudiness. |
