PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve visibility of tissue of typically insufficient contrast between blood and its surrounding tissue by including a process applying spectrally selective suppression pulse so as to have a flip angle selected so as to simultaneously optimize fat suppression and magnetization transfer contrast saturation. SOLUTION: A nuclear magnetic resonance imaging system 8 contains a computer 10, and the computer 10 controls a gradient coil power amplifier 14 through a pulse control module 12. And, the system contains a process which makes a spectrally selective suppression pulse having an RF pulse profile designed so as to produce frequency response with high fat suppression, and a process which selects spectrum selection suppressing amplitude so as to produce a magnetization transfer contrast between protein tissue and water tissue. It also contains a process applying a spectrum selection suppressing pulse so as to have a flip angle selected so as to simultaneously optimize fat suppression for each of two tissues and magnetization transfer contrast saturation.
