PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valid fingerprint recognizing device and fingerprint acquiring method in which even a semiconductor fingerprint sensor element to which any electrostatic protection countermeasure is not executed can be used by providing the electrostatic protection countermeasure in the fingerprint recognizing device itself. SOLUTION: This fingerprint recognizing device is provided with semiconductor fingerprint sensor elements 90 and 100, and a finger 19A is butted to the surface of the semiconductor fingerprint sensor element so that the fingerprint can be read. In this fingerprint recognizing device, a cover 10 which is constituted of a metallic plate 11 arranged at the surface side so as to be connected with a ground level and an insulating plate 12 arranged at the back side to be faced to the surface of the semiconductor fingerprint sensor element is formed on the surface of the semiconductor fingerprint sensor element.
