<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the memory scale of an ATM cell assembling/disassembling device which is provided between an STM(synchronous transfer mode) network and an ATM(asynchronous transfer mode) network and adopts an AAL(ATM adaptation layer) 1, by eliminating the need of a high-speed memory at the time of assembling and disassembling the ATM cell and to enable the assembling/disassembling device to automatically avoid mutual collision at the time of assembling the cell, to secure a fixed delay condition to a communication call requiring real-time properties, and to suppress the occurrence of burst caused by the breaking-up of cell assemblage with respect to a multiple- speed call. SOLUTION: An ATM cell assembling device is provided with a data buffer which stores STM data in a frame cycle, a write means and a read-out means, and an ATM cell disassembling device is provided with a data buffer which stores ATM data at every arrival of ATM cells, a write means, and a read-out means. The real-time communication call of an STM is communicated by using the corresponding specific cyclical slot, and a multiple-speed call is communicated by using a cell slot which is shared in common with continuous multiple STM time slots.</p> |
