PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure high sensitivity, to prevent the increase of a fog and the lowering of sensitivity during storage and to reduce the temperature dependency in exposure by specifying the spectral maximum sensitivity of the silver halide grains in a silver halide emulsion layer and incorporating at least one specified compound and at least one other specified compound into the silver halide emulsion layer. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material has at least one silver halide emulsion layer, the silver halide grains in the silver halide emulsion layer have the spectral maximum sensitivity at 700-1,500 nm and at least one of the silver halide emulsion layer and an adjacent hydrophilic colloidal layer contains at least one compound of formula I and at least one compound of formula II. In the formula I, R is an aryl and R1-R4 are each H, an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl. In the formula II, Y is C=0, C=S or the like and R11 and R12 are each an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group or may be nonmetallic atoms required to form a 5- or 6-membered ring or a polycyclic ring by bonding to each other.
