PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect abnormal water feed and to prevent overflow motion or continuous abnormal water feed even if a load control means goes out of order and the abnormal water feed occurs during power source timer reserved operation with a controller for a washing machine capable of setting the timer reserved operation. SOLUTION: A control means 3 is connected to an output side of a power source making/breaking means 2 connected to an AC power source 1. The loads of a water feed valve 4, drain valve 5, motor 6, etc., are controlled by this control means 3. The loads and the power source making/breaking means 2 are controlled according to the signals of a water level detecting means 8 for detecting the water level in a washing tank and a lid opening/closing detecting means 9 for detecting the opening and closing of the lid in a clothes feeding port. The control means 3 controls the loads of the water feed valve 4, the drain valve 5 and the motor 6 by a load control means 31. Timer reservation manipulation is made possible by a manipulation display means 32. The timer reserved operation is successively carried out by a sequential control means 33. The abnormal water feed is decided by a water level detecting means 8 during the timer reservation and the drain valve 5 is controlled to control draining or the power source making/breaking means 2, by which the power source is shut off.
