PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device capable of pressing in a steel sheet pile without concurrently using water when the pile cannot be pressed in merely by a hydraulic pressure. SOLUTION: This steel sheet pile press-in method comprises, for continuous air injection, a step of installing an air feed passage member capable of feeding high pressure compressed air along the longitudinal direction of a steel sheet pile and providing an air injection port at a tip part of the pile in pressing in direction, a pressing in step of holding and pressing in the ground the pile and injecting high pressure compressed air from the air injection port into the ground, and an extraction step of, after pressing in the pile to a desired depth, extracting the air feed passage member to the ground side, leaving the pile, after air injection from the air injection port is stopped. The steel sheet pile press-in device comprises a chuck 12 capable of vertically holding the pile 4 and a drive part 3 capable of pressing in the pile into the ground by hydraulically driving the chuck downwardly holding the pile 4. Compressed air feed means (compressed air source 3, hose 6, air control valve 7 and passage member 5) is provided so that high pressure compressed air can be injected from near the tip part of the pile 4 during press-in of the pile 4.
