PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly operate the subject apparatus for cleaning sewage by removing sludge in sewage to obtain treated water adjusted to a waste standard value or less without clogging a filter device arranged on the downstream side of the apparatus within a short period of time. SOLUTION: A tank body is constituted of a sludge flotation tank 2 to which sewage and air bubbles are supplied and a sedimentation tank 13 communicating with the sludge flotation tank 2 on the downstream side of the flotation tank 2. A floating substance discharge opening and a sludge discharge opening are provided to the sludge flotation tank 2 on the downstream side thereof and a sludge scraping-off device 22 is arranged on the side of both the discharge openings. A sludge/oil component discharge pipe 20 is provided on the downstream side of the sedimentation tank 13 of sludge, and flow paralleling plates 17, 18 and a water level adjusting tank 21 are provided on the downstream side thereof.
