PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand a tape take-up area without enlarging a cassette size by notching a specific area corresponding to the outer circumference of the maximum wound diameter of a magnetic tape wound on a take-up hub, in the side wall at both left and right ends of the lower half, and by forming the protective wall of the cassette case with the side wall of a slider. SOLUTION: A part P is notched, which corresponds to the maximum wound diameter of a tape in the side walls 12h, 12h at both left and right ends of the lower half 12, increasing the number of winding turns of the tape so much. A slider is in contact with the bottom 12a of the lower half 12 from the lower side and slidable forward and backward relative to the cassette. When the slider is in the forward position, the slider covers, with its bottom, the space between the left and right bulged parts 12c, 12c of the lower half 12 and the insertion holes 12b, 12b for the reel shaft for the purpose of protecting against dust.
