PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a musical sound generator which generates musical sounds having a timbre kind specified by replaceable other timbre information by other sound source means when it is judged that replaceable other timbre information exists even though the musical sounds of received timbre information can be generated by a sound source means. SOLUTION: When the timbre kind of a sound source 1, that is a standard sound source, is externally specified by the timbre information through a MIDI interface 4, it is judged whether a replaceable timbre information for a sound source 2, which is an extended sound source and synthesizes high quality musical sounds, exists or not. When it is judged that the replaceable tone color information exists, a sound system 7 generates high quality musical sounds generated by the sound source 2 replacing the timbre information for the sound source 2. |
