PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain black particulate powder with high blackness excellent in dispersibility in vehicles or resin compositions, and to obtain a coating material capable of forming coating films with high acid resistance and obtain a rubber/resin composition with high deterioration resistance each owing to containing the above black particulate powder as pigment. SOLUTION: This iron-based black composite particulate powder 0.082-1.05μm in average particle size is such one that the surface of each of the particles of black iron oxide particulate powder or black hydrous iron oxide particulate powder is coated with a fluoroorganosilane compound produced from the corresponding fluoroalkylsilane and carbon black is deposited on at least part of the fluoroorganosilane compound coat; wherein the carbon black add-on stands at 1-30 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the black iron oxide particulate powder or black hydrous iron oxide particulate powder.
