METHOD FOR INSPECTING SURFACE DEFECT IN CYLINDRICAL WORK AND ITS DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for inspecting surface defects in cylindrical work and its device capable of performing reliable inspection by a simple inexpensive constitution. SOLUTION: With the outer circumferential cylindrical surfaces of a masking roller 1 and hollow cylindrical work 2 made of rubber in contact with each other as maintaining their axes in parallel, they are synchronously rotated. The light projector 5a and light receiver 5b of a transmission-type photoelectric switch 5 are opposed to each other as sandwiching a contact part 4 between the masking roller 1 and the work 2. By longitudinally traveling the light projector and receiver 5a and 5b in synchronization with their rotation, surface defects 6 such as recessions, protrusions in the outer circumferential surface of the work 2 are detected as light leakage from a gap at the contact part 4 by the light receiver 5b in the case of the presence of surface defects 6.
