PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a level gage and a verticality gage for accurately and simply setting and measuring a horizontal level and a vertical level in a vertical wall surface, a flat surface, etc. SOLUTION: An object in the shape of a needle, a disk, or a polygon which can be freely rotated to the light and left in pendulum form is used for pendulum motion, the vertical direction is set from its stationary location, and the horizontal direction at right angles with the vertical direction is set. For applying this principle and speedily setting a vertical level and a horizontal level, a vertical plate with a pendulum for setting a vertical direction is incorporated into a horizontal plate 3 fundamentally in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped and used.
